Kartwear has evolved greatly over the years with the main emphasis being on driver safety. Protective kart clothing primarily offers impact and abrasion resistance and unlike motorsport racewear, does not need to be fireproof. Amateurs and “arrive and drive” karters will likely find a single layer suit or indoor overalls are sufficient. However, more proficient drivers or someone competing in kart racing will need kart wear that meets CIK and FIA standards.
